Prospective Volunteer Information

As a YHA volunteer, you'll make an important impact in the lives of vulnerable youth while enjoying the rewards of connecting with like-minded people, contributing to the community, feeling a sense of purpose, learning new skills, and making good use of your free time. Volunteering is also scientifically proven to be good for your mind and body!

 
 

Requirements

Our monthly meetings, (which run about 1 hour) are critical to the continued success of the Auxiliary. While not a requirement, we encourage all volunteers to attend in order to connect and socialize with fellow volunteers, learn about the impact of the work we do, and become educated about Youth Homes Agency.

Meetings are held at the Rossmoor Creekside Center in Walnut Creek.

NOTE: There are no dues associated with being an Auxiliary volunteer, however, donations are always welcome!

Volunteer Opportunities

Whether it's helping to run our Thrift Shop, baking cookies, chairing a fundraising event,  stuffing holiday stockings, or creating welcome baskets for foster youth arriving for residential care, the Auxiliary offers a variety of opportunities for meaningful, fulfilling, and purposeful volunteer work. Below are a few of the volunteer opportunities we offer.

  • Thrift Shop volunteer shifts

Fundraising and other events events throughout the year provide the opportunity to reach out to the community on a broader scale to educate the public on all the great work we do, as well as have fun and raise money for our kids! Annual events include:

  • Spring Fashion Show Fundraiser at Macy’s Broadway Plaza

  • Auxiliary Luncheon Tea

  • Celebration of Hope

  • December: Holiday Potluck and Stocking Stuffer Party
